Pittsburgh (population 305,704) is situated in the US Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It serves as the county seat of Allegheny County. Regionally, it anchors a seven-county metropolitan area of the Ohio River Valley and Appalachia with a total population of approximately 2,356,200.

Excellent downhill skiing opportunities are available close by within Seven Springs, Hidden Valley and Blue Knob. Located within the Laurel Mountains at an altitude of almost 3000 feet, Seven Springs is the biggest ski area within the state of Pennsylvania consisting of 17 slopes.

Outside of the city's downtown core can be found various cultural, educational and medical institutions, like Carnegie Museum and Library, the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
